MY EXPERIENCES IN MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT
My experiences in material development course
At the beginning of term, I didn't know what to study in material development.Then,When I learned where to study,I thought that this course would be about adaptation of technology into English Language Teaching.I was expecting to prepare presentations in different forms.I had positive thoughts about course.It happened like that.Now,I think ıt is really necessary course for changing world.In every field of life,technology is becoming more and more important. We have to adapt ourselves into the use of technology for teaching.
The Things we learned in this course:
-Blog
I think Blog is one of the most effective way to reach our students through Internet.I didnt have a difficulty.I knew what to write and how to write something important for course and English teaching.We can use a link for exemplification of our topic.We can share a video on Youtube and connect it to our blog through link.I thought blog was just a place where we could express ourselves.However,now,I think It is a good way to share knowledge on Internet.
-How to prepare a presentation on Prezi
Until this course,we always used Powerpoint to prepare a presentation.When I saw Prezi,I thought ıt would be very enjoyable to create something new on Prezi because It has very good quality of picture.We have an opportunity to classify topics.We can create a subtopic to explain a topic with more detail.If I compare Prezi with Powerpoint,I absolutely choose Prezi because It is free,It can be shared on Internet,ıt has good picture quality.
-How to prepare a video on Movie Maker
I knew Movie Maker but ı didn't prefer it.I though that ıt was very problematic to use it.Through this course,ı learned ı had a prejudice against Movie Maker.We can save a video and edit.If we want to show extra knowledge,we can add a page to video by this program.I had a difficult while adding a photo or page to video.
-How to share this video on Youtube
I think Youtube can be used when we dont have a time to teach something important in class.It can be used to review things students learn in lesson.When They don't understand something in class,They can listen again and try to understand what you mean.I knew how to load a video on Youtube or how to shoot a video.It wasn't difficult.
-How to create a educational page on Facebook
Social media affects people's lives and ıts use in education is necessity,Students spend their time on social media and spreading our knowledge through social media is a good way.We can share some photos,information,video through Facebook page.I think other common social media programs like Instagram,Twitter should be used in education.
Weebly
Creating a website is one of the most effective ways to reach our students.Weebly is free for students.It has many good qualities.We can classify subtopics.We can add a video link,photo,page link.I wanted to create a internet page.I learned through this course there was various ways.Weebly is one of options.
Consequently,We have to adapt ourselves into technology.We are educators and responsible for teaching.When we think today's people,learning something at home is common.These programs are our ways.
